  • “YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.”

“Because of your generosity we were able to bring hope nearly 4,000 Elkhart County and St. Joseph County women and children who call our shelter home each year!  The YWCA serves not just as a safe place for women and children fleeing from violence, but also a caring, supportive home where they can learn the tools and get the support they need to rebuild and improve their lives. We couldn’t do this important work in both St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties without caring partners in our community like you. You save and change lives for the better.”

“Along with safe housing for survivors of domestic violence, the YWCA provides economic empowerment, financial literacy, childcare, legal services, therapy and so much more for nearly 3,400 women and children each year. “

“Women who enter the YWCA can stay as long as needed however the standard time from is 45 to 60 days.  Women are then given the opportunity to move into our transitional housing.”

“Once a woman is completely back on her feet and ready to leave the YWCA we find them safe housing out in the community. Some women even purchase their own homes when leaving.”
