What Is Domestic Violence?
Domestic violence can take many forms and affect anyone regardless of age, economic, racial, cultural, generational, religious, or gender status.
Abusers use a variety of tactics to exert power and control. It is not always physical but may involve mental, verbal, spiritual, financial, and/or emotional abuse.
The reality is that domestic violence does not go away on its own.
Instead, it tends to get worse and more frequent over time.
The YWCA provides services to those in emergency domestic violence situations as well as those referred by an outside agency. All services are available to men, women, and children regardless of sexual orientation and services are conducted in a safe and confidential environment.
